Mi'kmaq Employment / Training Secretariat (METS)
METS coordinates and administrates quality training and employment for the thirteen First Nations in Nova Scotia. From Sydney to Yarmouth with a Native Employment Officer(NEO) at each of the 13 First Nations along with a NEO at the Mic Mac Native Friendship Centre
METS was originally formed in April 1991 as The Pathway Secretariat. In April 1996 METS was formed and incorporated under The Societies Act of Nova Scotia
METS supplies labour market needs for all employers in Nova Scotia and/or across Canada that want to engage with METS for the labour Market needs of Nova Scotia status First Nations.
METS receives funding from Human Resource Development Canada to help identify and coordinate and fund for the Mi’kmaq people of Nova Scotia regardless of their residency.
